To change the aspect ratio in Nano Banana, you will need a transparent PNG image. You will have to download a transparent PNG of the ratio in which you want to create the image.
For example, if you want to create an image in 16:9 ratio, then you will need a transparent PNG image of 16:9 size, whereas if you want to create an image in 4:3 size, then you will need a transparent PNG image of 4:3 ratio.

Step 1: Open Gemini and create a new chat. Now click on tools, and select the create images option.
Now, the way Nano banana currently handles aspect ratio, it looks at the last input image, sees its aspect ratio, and then it generates an image with that same aspect ratio.
Step 2: So you need to use the PNG that you’ve downloaded from the above link as the reference for the aspect ratio. So we can either create images from scratch in a 16:9 aspect ratio, or we can convert an existing 1:1 image into 16:9.
Step 3: Write a prompt. Like a lion drinking water with his child in the river, use this image as the reference for the final aspect ratio.
And that reference image you need to add by clicking “Add Files” and then clicking on “Upload Files.” Then select the PNG that you have downloaded with the correct aspect ratio, click open, and submit the prompt.
And the image that is generated will be in a 16:9 aspect ratio.
